D2C brand D’Moksha Homes successfully raised $575k in angel seed round

D’Moksha Homes was founded in 2020 in the United States by Nimisha and Manav Dhanda, a Mumbai couple who knew exactly what they wanted in a home. They moved into their new house after having their son, Moksh, and tried to design it in a way that not only defines aesthetics but also displays social and environmental values. This inspired them to start D’Moksha Homes with an aim to create beautiful home linens in the most socially and environmentally friendly way possible. They want to contribute beauty to their customers’ houses and to the planet in their manner. It’s a direct-to-consumer brand specializing in supplying luxurious, handcrafted household linens made from sustainable materials such as linen, hemp, and lyocell.

This D2C company recently successfully raised $575k in angel seed round, led by Venture Catalyst, The Chennai Angels, and Karthik Bhat, the founder of Force Ventures and also contributed by the founder of Mamaearth-Varun Alagh, DailyHunt Virendra Gupta, and Sanjay Behl of Raymond with many other also invested in the brand.

According to Manav Dhanda, Industry in India has been concentrated on contract work for international companies, but they want to leverage India’s strengths in textiles and craftsmen to create a ‘Global Indian Home Fashion Brand,’ with the purpose of supporting India Girl Child Education from their sales profits. Through the funds, he wants to make sure that he make their goals possible.

D’Moksha is a digital-first D2C brand in charge of the entire supply chain, which includes manufacturing, international warehousing, international import-export, consumer marketing, and delivery and returns. Also, the Co-founder of Venture Catalyst, Apoorva Sharma, commented that D’Moksha has successfully served over 20,000 customers from the US, Canada, and Mexico, and the brand has been profitable after a few months of inception, with around 80% gross margins. She also expects that through funding, D’Moksha would step up and develop globally, becoming an Indian brand for the rest of the globe.

The duo, Nimisha, and Manav belonged from different backgrounds, and they knew that entering this line could be challenging. As shared by Nimisha, she also mentioned that with a strong mindset, they were focused on building a reputed brand and knew that whenever they will be creating and selling their product, in the end, it would bring them immense happiness. Adding to this, while being thankful to the investors helping them achieve the greater purpose of their brand, she said that they gave the brand their son’s name to embed their customer attraction in D’Moksha Homes. This also helps them as a great reminder to bring pure happiness to their clients’ lives every time they reach for their brand. They want their customers to love D’Moksha.
