SatLeo Labs Raises $2.2 Mn to Advance Thermal Satellite Intelligence Platform
Spacetech startup SatLeo Labs has raised $2.2 million (approximately ₹20.5 crore) in its seed funding round, led by Unicorn India Ventures, with participation from existing investors including Merak Ventures, Java Capital, IIMA-CIIE, and others. This latest funding marks another significant milestone in the company’s journey to build advanced Earth observation capabilities powered by thermal intelligence.
With this round, SatLeo Labs’ total funding has reached $5.5 million, following its $3.3 million pre-Series A raise in 2025 led by Merak Ventures. The continued backing from both new and existing investors highlights strong confidence in the startup’s vision and technological capabilities.

Founded in 2023 by Shravan Bhati, Urmil Bakhai, and Ranendu Ghosh, SatLeo Labs is focused on developing next-generation satellites capable of capturing both thermal and visual imagery of Earth. Unlike traditional imaging satellites, SatLeo’s technology provides deeper insights by detecting heat signatures, enabling more accurate and real-time monitoring across multiple sectors.
The fresh capital will primarily be used to advance the company’s flagship thermal satellite mission. This includes accelerating satellite development, improving imaging capabilities, and preparing for deployment. In parallel, SatLeo Labs will invest in building its AI-powered platform designed to process and analyze thermal data for actionable intelligence.

Thermal imaging from space has wide-ranging applications. SatLeo’s technology can help monitor climate change by tracking temperature variations, support agriculture by assessing crop health and soil conditions, and enhance disaster management through early detection of wildfires, floods, and other natural events. Additionally, the platform has strategic use cases in defence and surveillance, where real-time thermal insights can provide a critical edge.
A key differentiator for SatLeo Labs lies in its integration of AI with satellite data. By leveraging artificial intelligence, the platform can convert raw thermal imagery into meaningful insights, enabling faster decision-making for governments, enterprises, and research institutions.

The global demand for advanced Earth observation data is rapidly increasing, driven by climate challenges, food security concerns, and geopolitical dynamics. SatLeo Labs is well-positioned to capitalize on this demand by offering a unique combination of thermal and visual intelligence.
As the company continues to scale, this funding will play a crucial role in strengthening its technological foundation and expanding its impact across industries. SatLeo Labs is steadily emerging as a key player in India’s growing spacetech ecosystem, pushing the boundaries of how satellite data can be used to solve real-world problems.
