Karkhana Acquires Micron EMS Tech to Strengthen Electronics Manufacturing Capabilities

Manufacturing technology platform Karkhana has announced the acquisition of MICRON EMS Tech Pvt Ltd, marking a strategic move to strengthen its presence in India’s rapidly expanding electronics manufacturing sector. Founded in 2018 by Sonam Motwani, Karkhana has been steadily evolving from a supplier network platform into a full-scale manufacturing ecosystem, and this acquisition represents a significant milestone in that journey.

Through the acquisition, Karkhana will gain access to Micron EMS Tech’s advanced electronics manufacturing facility in Bengaluru, which spans over 40,000 square feet. The facility is equipped with modern production technologies designed to support high-quality and scalable electronics manufacturing operations.

The plant features advanced Surface Mount Technology (SMT) lines, Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) systems, X-ray inspection capabilities, and automated production processes, enabling precise manufacturing and stringent quality control. These technologies will allow Karkhana to handle complex electronics assembly requirements while maintaining efficiency and reliability.

With the addition of Micron EMS Tech’s infrastructure and expertise, Karkhana aims to significantly expand its manufacturing capabilities and scale its business operations. The company is targeting an annual recurring revenue (ARR) of ₹200 crore following the expansion, reflecting its ambition to become a major player in India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem.

Karkhana currently collaborates with more than 25 original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) across industries such as electric vehicles (EVs) and consumer electronics. By integrating Micron EMS Tech’s capabilities, the company plans to strengthen its ability to support these OEMs with end-to-end electronics manufacturing services, from prototyping and design support to large-scale production.

The acquisition also aligns with India’s broader vision of building a $500 billion electronics manufacturing ecosystem, a national goal aimed at strengthening domestic production and reducing reliance on imports. As demand for electronics components continues to grow across sectors such as automotive, renewable energy, consumer electronics, and industrial automation, companies like Karkhana are playing a crucial role in building the necessary infrastructure and supply chains.

Karkhana initially gained recognition as a digital platform that connected businesses with a network of manufacturing suppliers. Over time, the company has expanded its model by investing in deeper manufacturing capabilities, allowing it to offer more integrated solutions to its clients.
