Student Mobility Startup ZeroMobit Raises 1.5 Cr in Pre-Seed Round to Build Campus-Focused Transportation Infrastructure

Student mobility startup ZeroMobit has raised a pre-seed funding round co-led by Sandeep Varaganti, CEO of JioMart, along with Ashok Agrawal and a group of high-net-worth individuals (HNIs). The funding marks an early but significant milestone as ZeroMobit looks to build a dedicated, campus-first transportation stack for students across India.

Founded to simplify daily student commute, ZeroMobit is addressing a highly fragmented and underserved segment of urban mobility. Student transportation today is often plagued by inconsistent routes, safety concerns, poor visibility, and unreliable service, issues that traditional ride-hailing or public transport systems are not designed to solve at a cohort-specific level.

ZeroMobit’s platform is built specifically around student use cases, focusing on safety-first operations, predictable routing, and reliability. By designing mobility solutions tailored to campuses and educational clusters, the startup aims to create a trusted transportation layer for students, parents, and institutions alike.

The fresh capital will be used to strengthen product development, enhance technology capabilities such as route optimisation, real-time tracking, and safety features, and expand operations across key educational hubs. ZeroMobit plans to work closely with colleges, universities, and private education providers to deploy structured, repeatable mobility solutions that can scale city by city.

What sets this round apart is its operator-led backing. With a senior ecommerce leader like Sandeep Varaganti co-leading the investment, the funding signals growing investor confidence in verticalised mobility models, platforms built for narrowly defined user cohorts rather than broad, horizontal ride-hailing plays.

Commenting on the opportunity, the investors highlighted that student mobility is a massive but overlooked category, with recurring daily demand and strong requirements around trust, predictability, and safety. These characteristics make it well-suited for a focused, tech-enabled solution rather than generic transportation offerings.

ZeroMobit’s approach reflects a broader shift in the mobility ecosystem, where startups are increasingly moving away from one-size-fits-all platforms toward deeply specialised solutions tailored to specific communities and use cases. By concentrating on campuses and student clusters, ZeroMobit is aiming to build defensibility through operational depth and user trust.

As India’s education ecosystem continues to expand and urban student populations grow, ZeroMobit is positioning itself to become a foundational mobility layer for campuses, bringing structure, safety, and reliability to a daily problem faced by millions of students.
