DroneTech Startup SUIND Raises ₹20.5 Crore to Advance Autonomous Drone Innovation in India
India’s deeptech ecosystem continues to gain momentum as drone technology startup SUIND has raised ₹20.5 crore (approximately $2.1 million) in a seed funding round led by Transition Venture Capital Fund, with participation from IIMA Ventures and CIIE Initiatives. The investment values the Bengaluru- and Zurich-headquartered company at approximately ₹80 crore post-money, highlighting growing investor confidence in autonomous drone technologies built for real-world industrial applications.
Founded in 2020 by Kunal Shrivastava and Kevin Kleber, SUIND is developing next-generation autonomous unmanned aerial systems (UAS) that operate using advanced computer vision instead of relying primarily on GPS. This innovative approach enables drones to function effectively in GPS-denied environments, low-altitude operations, and challenging terrains where conventional drones often face navigation limitations.

The company’s technology addresses one of the biggest challenges in autonomous aviation—reliable navigation in complex environments. By combining artificial intelligence, computer vision, and autonomous flight capabilities, SUIND is creating drones that can perform precision tasks with greater reliability and safety across multiple industries.
One of SUIND’s flagship products is Bumblebee, a DGCA-certified agricultural spraying drone that has already been commercially deployed across plantations and farms in India. The drone helps farmers improve spraying efficiency, reduce manual labour, optimize pesticide usage, and support precision agriculture, an increasingly important requirement as the agricultural sector adopts smart farming technologies.

The newly raised capital will primarily be used to expand the commercial deployment of Bumblebee, accelerate the development of WASP, the company’s autonomous infrastructure inspection drone, and further strengthen SUIND’s proprietary autonomy platform. The investment will also support product innovation, engineering capabilities, and market expansion as demand for autonomous drone solutions continues to grow.
This funding round comes nearly two and a half years after SUIND raised ₹5 crore in its earlier seed round led by Sunicon Ventures in 2023. The larger follow-on investment reflects the company’s technological progress, successful commercial deployments, and increasing market acceptance of its autonomous drone solutions.

India’s drone industry has experienced rapid growth following supportive government initiatives, production-linked incentive (PLI) schemes, and regulatory reforms designed to promote domestic drone manufacturing and innovation. Demand is expanding across agriculture, infrastructure, logistics, mining, defense, energy, and industrial inspections, creating significant opportunities for companies developing advanced autonomous systems.
Industry experts believe the future of drone technology lies in intelligent autonomy rather than remote-controlled operations. AI-powered navigation, computer vision, and real-time decision-making are expected to become key differentiators as enterprises seek safer, more efficient, and scalable aerial solutions.
With strong investor backing, proprietary technology, and commercially validated products, SUIND is well-positioned to become a leader in India’s autonomous drone ecosystem. As the company scales its platform and expands into new industrial applications, it represents the growing strength of India’s deeptech sector and its ability to develop globally competitive technologies that solve complex real-world challenges.
