InRisk Labs Raises $27 Million to Scale AI-Powered Reinsurance Platform EarthRe
InRisk Labs, an emerging player in the insurance technology space, has raised $27 million in a Series A funding round to accelerate the growth of its AI-led reinsurance platform, EarthRe. The round was backed by Bessemer Venture Partners and Northpoint Capital, providing the company with fresh capital to expand its technology capabilities and strengthen its presence in the global reinsurance ecosystem.
Founded in 2024 by Aavrit Singhal, Siddesh Ramasubramanian, Shivakhumar R S, and Malay Kumar Poddar, InRisk Labs is developing technology-driven solutions aimed at modernizing the reinsurance industry. Through EarthRe, the company combines artificial intelligence with insurance expertise to improve underwriting, risk assessment, and catastrophe modelling.

A key milestone accompanying the funding announcement is EarthRe’s acquisition of an IFSCA reinsurance licence. According to the startup, EarthRe has become the first incorporated reinsurer to receive a licence from the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) at GIFT City. The regulatory approval represents a significant step for the company as it prepares to expand its reinsurance operations.
The newly raised capital will be deployed toward strengthening EarthRe’s underwriting capabilities, catastrophe modelling infrastructure, and AI technologies. The company also plans to expand its portfolio of non-life reinsurance offerings, targeting opportunities across a market that increasingly requires sophisticated tools to evaluate complex and emerging risks.

Reinsurance plays a critical role in the global insurance industry by allowing insurers to transfer portions of their risks to specialized reinsurance companies. With climate-related events, natural catastrophes, economic uncertainty, and increasingly complex commercial risks creating new challenges for insurers, technology-enabled risk assessment is becoming increasingly important.
AI and advanced data analytics can potentially help reinsurers process large volumes of information, identify patterns, improve risk pricing, and make underwriting decisions more efficiently. EarthRe‘s focus on combining these technologies with reinsurance operations places it within a growing global movement toward technology-led risk management.
The company’s presence at GIFT City also adds strategic significance to its expansion plans. India’s international financial hub is emerging as an important destination for financial services and insurance businesses, offering an ecosystem designed to facilitate global financial activity from India.

The funding from prominent investors such as Bessemer Venture Partners and Northpoint Capital further highlights growing investor interest in the intersection of AI, insurance, and financial infrastructure. For startups operating in complex financial sectors, access to institutional capital can provide the resources required to build specialized technology, develop regulatory capabilities, and expand internationally.
With its latest funding round and regulatory milestone, InRisk Labs is entering its next phase of growth with a clear focus on AI-driven underwriting and non-life reinsurance. As the insurance industry continues to evolve in response to emerging risks, EarthRe’s technology-led approach could contribute to making reinsurance more data-driven, responsive, and scalable.
